Amy and Ollie faced an issue with their garden’s retaining wall, which was made of wood and had started rotting, causing the soil to shift.
To address this, we built a 12-meter-long dry stone retaining wall. Completely mortar-free, it allows for natural drainage, requires no maintenance, and is far sturdier than a wooden wall.
To enhance functionality, we also integrated a set of stairs directly into the wall.
What we’ve accomplished:
1.
We began by dismantling the remains of the old wooden retaining wall.
2.
Next, we prepared a solid and stable footing to provide a strong foundation for the new structure.
3.
Using the timeless technique of dry stone walling—relying solely on gravity, friction, and a few key principles—we built a durable and visually striking wall. This traditional method ensures the wall will stand strong and beautiful for generations to come.
